STOP Doing These Things
If your social media isn’t growing, it may not be the algorithm’s fault. No matter how good your content is, doing any of these things could greatly impact your ability to grow ⤵️
▪️Purchasing likes or followers. This is a terrible idea for a couple of reasons. For one, the algorithm recognize this and immediately downgrades your organic reach. Additionally, those “followers” or “likes” are often just bot accounts that will not actually engage with your future content. This will make the algorithm think your followers don’t like your content, which will cause it to be further downgraded in the algorithm.
▪️Using content with a watermark. The leaders of Instagram have clarified that using outside editing sources will NOT cause your content to be downgraded. However posting content with the watermark of another platform (for example, TikTok) will cause its reach to immediately be limited.
▪️Breaking community guidelines. This one should be common sense, but it’s easy to post something without realizing that it could be against the rules. Anything that either shows or even mentions any forbidden topics or words will immediately be severely downgraded and/or removed. Numerous infractions could also result in your account being deleted.
▪️”Spammy” behavior. It can be fun or eye-catching to like or comment many times on an account or even multiple accounts, but the algorithm frowns upon this. It will recognize this behavior and restrict your account for a period of time.
